Lessons learned the fourth month

Hey! Welcome back for another installment of Lessons Learned. I’m coming into my fourth month of freelancing full time and am so happy to share some insights on what I’ve learned so far.

  1. Get out and meet new people
It’s easy to be stuck in a bubble when you’re comfortable. But if you find yourself a little restless or stuck creatively, go outside. Meet some new people, strike a conversation, or just get fresh air and stretch those legs! You might be surprised of what lies outside of your comfort zone.

  2. Take social media with a grain of salt
Nobody’s life is the way it seems. Content curation plays such a big part of diluting reality and while they can serve as motivators, it can also do a lot of harm. Just remember that we’re all still figuring it out day by day. There’s no secret. If we knew what the secret was, life as we know it would be very different.

  3. If you’re scared but still excited, you’re doing something right
    So just keep swimming.

  4. Make time
I recently went to a networking event at an agency here in San Diego called Grizzly and their CCO, Greg Gibson, said something that really stuck with me. “There’s no such thing as balance. It’s about prioritization.” We need to make time for the other important facets in our lives outside of work.

  5. Rest is just as important as the hustle
Sleep is not for the weak, sleep is for the smart so go ahead and enjoy that catnap!
